Tailored therapy to the needs of the family and child

As a behaviour specialist I have training and experience in using a number of different intervention therapies. This enables me to tailor therapy to the needs of the family and child. I believe that the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist, is key. I have worked within challenging behaviour environments delivering therapeutic advice and guidance for over 25 years.

In these capacities, as well as in my work in children and adolescent mental health in the NHS, I have experienced being alongside individuals, and families at significant periods of their lives. I strive to provide a service which is professional, compassionate, and safe. Family Therapy is a collaborative process in which you bring your expert knowledge and experience of your loved ones, and I bring my years of experience and neutrality to deliver the ideas, approaches and interventions which have been shown to have efficacy in helping people to improve their family’s quality of life.

My approach will be centred around your goals and preferred outcomes. Some families come with very specific problems perhaps focusing on a child struggling to communicate their needs appropriately and using behaviour to demonstrate their anxieties. There will be families who are struggling to function, and the home environment is inconsistent and unpredictable. Behaviour therapies and parent coaching can be used alongside techniques supporting self regulation to create a common language and system for communicating emotions and needs. When you feel like you have tried everything and you can’t see the woods for the trees, I can guide you through and offer new approaches.
